With the current government restrictions limiting the number of guests allowed to attend weddings, intimate weddings are becoming more popular than ever. So now is the perfect opportunity to have that exclusive, intimate and love filled wedding day, which dreams are made of.

Here at The Event Edit we have always been a lover of cosy, intimate weddings way before we were hit by a worldwide pandemic, and as the wedding showcases that we have come to know so well are temporarily on ice, we are certain that for those couples who use this moment in time to plan the most honest and serene of days, they will not be disappointed. Here are a few pointers from us to make your intimate wedding as perfect as possible.

The Ceremony

The most important and heart felt part of the day is when the two of you say your vows and commit to spending your lives together. For intimate weddings we simply love a circular set up with your loved ones seated all around you to add to that intimate vibe. This is often something that simply would not have been achievable whilst trying to cater to 100 plus guests as many ceremony rooms could not fit these numbers without using the traditional rows of seating.

The type of closeness that a rounded ceremony set up can offer can be created in many different spaces, however one venue in the North West area comes to mind that already lends itself to an intimate wedding so well. Larkspur Lodge’s ceremony room has retro style cinema seats surrounding the room in an amphitheatre style set up perfect for that intimate vibe with all eyes on you (and not just on the back of your head).

The Tables

Simply because the guest list has been scaled back it does not mean the styling should be. Whether your guests will be seated at traditional round tables or more rustic style trestle tables, these tables typically seat 8-10 people and so to avoid a cold, empty feel we recommend going big on your table styling. Think flowers, ribbons, petals, candles, miniature disco balls, candlesticks and bud vases to name a few, any combination of these small items used together can create a Pinterest worth table for your guests, in this case we definitely think more is more.

The Lighting

It is no secret that lighting is one of the most atmospheric ways to transform any space, the right lighting can make the most colossal of venues feel warm and inviting, something which will be necessary given the absence of the usual hustle and bustle of wedding guests to fill the location.

Lighting can be introduced on any budget, from simple candlelight to provide a romantic ambiance to trails of LED curtains. However, a firm favourite at The Event Edit for a pop of light is a neon sign. This super cool trend is like a lighting bolt in a venue and they can be used in so many different ways, from outlining a couple’s silhouette during their first dance to lighting up a wedding breakfast toast, a neon sign is a must have and works so well with other lighting options.
